2019 – 2020 Children’s Theater

Registration is now open for auditions for the fall Missoula Children’s Theatre production at the Midwest Theater – “The Emperor’s New Clothes“! This fall production is open to students in grades K-8 who were born in an ODD year.

“Dress for success” is good advice that the Emperor takes whole-heartedly, wanting to impress new friends. But where to stop? When the clothes (and other people’s opinions) become more important than the people of the kingdom, trouble brews. To help their beloved Emperor find the way back to his heart, his true friends create an elaborate “birthday suit” for the Emperor to wear for his birthday parade celebration. The Emperor quickly and humbly learns that sometimes “less is more”!

Audition: Monday, Nov. 18, 2019, 4:00 pm at the Midwest Theater

Rehearsals: Monday through Thursday, Nov. 18-21, 4:00 – 8:30 pm

Performances: Friday, Nov. 22, 2019

Rehearsals are scheduled every evening, Monday through Thursday, from 4:00-8:30pm and consist of two 2-hour blocks of time with a 15-30 minute snack break between the two sessions for those cast members involved in both sessions. Each child’s schedule for the week is dependent on the role in which they’re cast. While not all cast members are involved in every rehearsal session, Thursday night rehearsal is MANDATORY, as well as the two daytime performances and one evening performance on Friday.  If your student cannot attend all rehearsals and be excused from school on Friday for the performances, please do not allow them to try out.
