Firestarter (1984) – 40th Anniversary
This October the Historic Midwest Theater isn’t the only thing that’s haunted! Presenting our Hauntastic Halloween Season! We’re starting the spooky celebrations with a Stephen King Classics Weekend, featuring a couple of killer kids!
Based on the bestselling novel by Stephen King, Firestarter is the story of a young girl with a special ability and those who would protect her and those who would use her.
Charlie McGee (Drew Barrymore, coming off of her success from E.T.) is an eight year old girl who just wants to be normal. Unfortunately, her parents participated in medical experiments to gain telepathy and she was born with the gift of pyrokinesis, the ability to create fire with her mind.
Now Charlie and her dad are being hunted down by a shadowy government department known as “The Shop” who want to study her ability or worse, turn her into a weapon. Does Charlie have the power to survive? Or will she just – burn. Burn it all down.
