Nosferatu (2024)

Nosferatu (2024)

Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu is a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman, Ellen (Lily-Rose Depp) and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her, Count Orlock (Bill Skarsgård). Count Orlock moves from his castle in the mountains to the city where Ellen lives, causing untold horror in his wake.

Based on the 1922 silent film Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror by famed German director F. W. Murnau. Murnau set out to make a film adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, unfortunately he did not get permission from Stoker’s widow to do it. She successfully sued him and all copies were ment to be destroyed. Fortunately copies survived and slowly gained reputation. Eggers’ adaptation is not the first but it is definitely darker and gorier than most, yet it still contains the essence of the original. Nosferatu (2024) was also nominated for 4 Academy Awards.
