Hocus Pocus

Hocus Pocus

This October the Historic Midwest Theater isn’t the only thing that’s haunted! Presenting our Hauntastic Halloween Season! The spooky celebrations continues with the Walt Disney classic Hocus Pocus!

The Sanderson Sisters are back… on the big screen!

Winifred (Bette Midler), Sarah (Sarah Jessica Parker), & Mary (Kathy Najimy) Sanderson were three witches in 17th century Salem, who had a plan to steal the souls of children to keep themselves young. Thwarted by young Thackery (Sean Murray), who gets turned into a black cat for his troubles, the sisters are captured and burned at the stake, but not before they can cast a spell of resurrection.

300 years later a teenage boy named Max (Omri Katz) and his younger sister, Dani (Thora Birch), move to Salem. Max has a hard time fitting in but manages to catch the eye of classmate Allison (Vinessa Shaw). Forced to take Dani trick-or-treating while their parents go to a Halloween Party, they meet up with Allison and go visit the Sanderson house, now a museum and gift shop. The unbelieving Max accidentally reawakens the Sanderson Sisters.

With the help of Thackery, as a talking cat, it’s a race to avoid the sisters and their zombified ex-boyfriend and try to figure out how to un-resurrect them before Winifred can get her book back and make the spell permanent by stealing the souls from all the children in Salem! Luckily the sisters are not used to Halloween night or the 1990’s so they are easily confused. Still it will take all the luck and skill the kids have to save the town and survive the night!
