Universal Pictures Double Feature

The Historically Haunted Midwest Theater is getting spooky this October for our Hauntasic Halloween Season! It’s the Fun Side of Scary Weekend with a special double feature that features double the fun, adventure, and humor of horror movies.

The Mummy (1999) – 25th Anniversary

The Brendan Fraser classic about adventurer Rick O’Connell (Fraser) and his buddy, Beni (Kevin J. O’Connor), who agree to help British librarian Evelyn Carnahan (Rachel Weisz) and her brother Jonathan (John Hannah) on an archaeological dig in Egypt. They discover the mummified remains of Imhotep (Arnold Vosloo) and an ancient tome called the Book of the Dead. Evelyn thinks nothing bad can happen from reading a book, but in doing so they reawaken Imhotep. The Mummy slowly gets his power back and goes about resurrecting his one true love, Anck Su Namun (Patricia Velasquez). Rick and Evelyn might be able to stop Imhotep but it will take the help of Ardeth Bay (Oded Fehr) and friends to send this Mummy back to his eternal slumber. Directed by Stephen Sommers and based on the Universal Classic Monster movie – The Mummy (1932)

Rated – PG -13 Run Time – 2 hours 4 minutes Released – 1999

Shaun of the Dead – 20th Anniversary

Shaun (Simon Pegg) is content with his aimless existence as an Electronics sales man who lives with his layabout roommate, Ed (Nick Frost), has a loving mother Barbara (Penelope Wilton), and enjoys going to the Winchester Pub most nights with Ed and his girlfriend Liz (Kate Ashfield). Shaun wouldn’t want to change anything. Unfortunately for him, the zombie apocalypse has begun and Shaun’s peaceful “stuck in a rut” life gets a major shock. He does the only thing he can think of, grab his loved ones and wait it out at the Winchester. Needless to say, things go gorily wrong and it’s a fight for survival in a zombie filled London. Shaun of the Dead is a wonderful mix of jokes and scares directed by Edgar Wright.

There will be special 20th Anniversary material before the movie.
